Arboricultural officer
Contract: Cheshire East Highways
Location: Congleton
Contract Type: Permanent
Reporting to the Operations Manager. The Arboricultural officer will be required to manage, carry out routine and ad-hoc inspections on highways assets respond to enquiries and requests for service, engaging with various stakeholders. To identify and order highway green operations maintenance works in accordance with policy, contract requirements and the business plan. To work as part of a team in order to achieve a high level of customer service, to ensure that the highway network is safe for all users and to contribute to the company’s overall business objectives.
The Role
•Manage the Cheshire East Highways tree inspection programme and support staff in line with the Cheshire East Highways Tree Risk Management Strategy
•Perform and accurately report tree Inspections and Service Inspections across the Cheshire East road network as set out in the Inspection Schedule.
•Perform walked and driven inspections working alone and alongside others.
•Receive enquiries and requests for service for a geographical area of the borough. Carry out inspections and investigations as required in order to determine the appropriate response or action required.
•Consider options and provide appropriate outcome for each enquiry in accordance with current policies, strategies, business plan and customer journey.
•Meet with customers on site to discuss highway maintenance or highway related matters. Conduct such meetings in a courteous manner and explain any technical issues clearly. Manage expectations but consider what action might be appropriate, balanced with policy and budget considerations.
About You
•RCF Level 6 Arboriculture (e.g. BSc. RFS Professional Diploma, LANTRA, Professional /Tree Inspection)
•QTRA registered.
•A full UK driving licence is essential.
•Excellent verbal and good written communication skills are essential.
•Good IT skills are essential, particularly MS Office and GIS systems desirable.
