A leading specialist school in Slough is looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with Autism and other learning needs. The school caters to students aged 3 to 16, offering a therapeutic and supportive environment. This role is perfect for an empathetic, engaging graduate who is motivated to work with children with additional needs. Experience with children or adults with SEN is a plus, but a positive attitude and dedication are most important.
Key Responsibilities
In this role as an Autism/Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide emotional and social support to students, fostering a positive and safe environment.
Assist students in reaching their learning objectives while helping them build essential life and social skills.
Manage and support positive behavioral strategies.
Help develop communication through visual aids, speech support, and Makaton.
Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and on-site therapy teams.This role is an exceptional opportunity for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or similar fields to gain hands-on experience in a therapeutic school environment. Working alongside trained therapists and psychologists, you'll gain invaluable experience, especially helpful for those aiming to pursue careers as educational psychologists, therapeutic support workers, or SEN teachers.
