Seeking an individual interested in working in the recycling and environmental sustainability industry. This position is responsible for ensure goods are transported in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company procedure. The individual must be flexible and willing to travel, they may be required to stay away from home for up to 4 nights per week when required. Based from Alfreton, the successful candidate will be part of a team and work under the supervision of a knowledgeable and supportive Transport Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Day to day functions as requested and required by your line manager
2. Ensure deliveries are made accurately and efficiently
3. Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and in line with legislation
4. To attend any relevant training as required, ensuring you remain fully equipped to perform your role effectively and to assist in the development of continuous improvement
5. To report any accident or damage to any equipment or machinery
6. Maintain excellent service levels at all times, ensuring a “first Class” service to all customers
7. Ensuring security of goods carried are at the highest level
8. Take on projects as and when required and see them through to successful completion
9. To positively promote Sims to other employees, customers, suppliers and externally
10. Ensure road worthiness of vehicle before leaving Service Centre by carrying out a safety check, taking appropriate action where necessary
11. Inform relevant Function Manager of non-conformances and ensure corrective action is taken
12. Ensure compliance with all transport procedures throughout the operation
13. Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require
14. Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community
Key Skills/Competencies
Applicants must have a clean HGV Licence Class 1, Digital Tachograph card and full driver CPC entitlement. Previous experience of HGV driving is essential and bulk material driving experience is desirable. The individual must have clear writing skills with a strong logistical and geographical knowledge, with flexibility and be willing to travel. The individual may be required to stay away from home for up to 4 nights per week when required.
