What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Land Assistant to join the Land Team. This role typically reports to the Land Director.
The purpose of the role is to support Persimmon Homes East Scotland Land Team identify, pursue and deliver opportunities for new outlets to help meet Scotland’s housing needs and through that to support a competitive business unit.
The role will include:
* Assist in producing site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations, and new site appraisals for immediate housing sites in a timely manner to meet required deadlines to maintain the relationship with the Land team and protect the interests of the company.
* Assist with preparation and project managing different types of planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharge of planning conditions accurately so that the Region can maintain new sites to develop.
* Liaise and brief internal layout designers, external consultants and officers at local planning authorities prior, during and post submission to develop strong working relationships
* Organise supporting information and always attend required stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism to build confidence with the general public
* Formulating planning strategies to promote medium- and long-term development sites through the plan-making process under the guidance of the Land Managers and Land Director to continue a pipeline of new sites for the region
* Monitor development plan progress and associated evidence based and policy documents within each local planning authority area
* Work cohesively with other departments across the Operating Company to ensure achievement of targets
* Comply with the Group Health, Safety and Environment Policy to ensure health and safety standards are met
What we need from you?
* Able to work with minimal supervision to meet time sensitive deadlines
* Capable of working on multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise workloads
* A good working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint is an essential
* Full UK driving licence
* Degree / Masters Planning Degree and working towards an MRTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of town planning
* Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
* Excellent verbal communication skill
* Experience working within the housing sector, with an understanding of housing and construction processes, or the private or public sector in the field of development management / planning policy would be an advantage but not essential
