We have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Civil Engineering business which specialises in delivering Section 278 and Infrastructure works. The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in reviewing the tendering opportunities we receive by accurately estimating the costs associated with the Civil Engineering projects.

Role and Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed and accurate take-offs and cost estimates for Civil Engineering projects, including but not limited to roads, highway drainage, street lighting and traffic signals.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand project requirements and constraints.
Working to deadlines to ensure we meet our client's needs.
Utilise industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare accurate cost estimates, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Sub-Contractors to gather the necessary information and input detail for cost estimation.
Evaluate material, labour and equipment costs to determine the most cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
Identify and quantify project risks and contingencies to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, site visits and negotiations with clients and subcontractors as needed.
Keep up to date with industry trends, market conditions and cost factors to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
Assist in value engineering initiatives to optimise project costs without compromising quality or performance.
Environment and Working Hours
The office is an open-plan environment with parking on-site
Company core office hours are 8.30 am until 5.00 pm (4:30pm on Fridays)
Person Requirements:
HNC, HND or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
Proven experience as an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor in the Civil Engineering or Construction Industry.
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Proficiency in using industry-related estimating software and tools.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately assess project costs and risks.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials and industry standards.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Commitment to upholding ethical standards, integrity and professionalism in all aspects of work.
