Job Purpose
Reporting to the APU Manager the Maintenance supervisor will be responsible for all processes and employees on shift within the Maintenance area of responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensuring the Health & Safety of all employees within area of responsibility. Carry out daily / weekly H&S audits as defined
2. Ensuring the highest levels of housekeeping within the department are maintained
3. Carrying out 2nd stage disciplinary warnings, as necessary, for both timekeeping and discipline related issues
4. Developing and promoting succession planning and training for employees within the department
5. Carrying out risk assessments for departmental tasks in conjunction with appropriate skills from within team and engineering
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
6. Co-ordinating the labour resource across the department on shift, including holiday cover contingencies
7. Liaising with fellow employees in all areas to achieve production priorities
8. Ensuring all environmental controls and procedures are religiously carried out, where necessary
9. Ensuring all processes and procedures are always adhered to
10. Ensuring contractors on site are operating to the companies site rules, issued with permits to work and have provided method statements and risk assessments
11. Working with specialised contractors to monitor quality of work and Liaising with suppliers to obtain competitive quotes
12. Writing of TPM’s and PPM’s. Ensuring planned preventative maintenance schedules are implemented in full and on time
13. Maximising equipment efficiencies and provide manufacturing support
14. Identifying equipment spares that need to be added to stores stock
15. Control of R+M spend – within monthly budget
Qualifications
16. Ideally a time served apprentice, electrical or mechanically biased, multiskilled would be an advantage
Knowledge / Experience
17. Previous experience of supervising people
18. A good knowledge of IT systems with particular skills in Excel & Word packages
19. Experience of robotics would be advantageous
20. Experience of working with Management Team
21. Familiar with manufacturing equipment pneumatics hydraulics conveying systems temperature controller’s plc’s motors and drives
22. Previous experience of carrying out risk assessments in the workplace would be an advantage
23. Experience of Lean manufacturing tools
24. Strong Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background with hands – on approach when required
25. Experience of managing skilled individual
