Mechanical Design Engineer

What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team at Lintott, a Galliford Try business.
The key components of the role of Mechanical Engineer are to create, oversee and undertake the design of mechanical assemblies, principally for the Company’s Treatment System products.
* Undertake a thorough review of the mechanical aspects of a specification / tender / project. Design / develop technically appropriate and value-engineered solutions as required by the project / contract / requirement.
* Produce CAD models, drawing packs, design documentation, design calculations and technical reports as required by the project / requirement and in a manner which is efficient and that continually enables the Company to deliver service excellence.
* Areas of design include, but are not limited to: Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) water treatment kiosks, storage tanks, pump cabinets and pipe-work systems.
* Structural framework.
* Continually employ the principles of Design for Manufacture and Assembly, and value engineering throughout design undertakings, but never deviating from or compromising designated standards / requirements.
* Arrange the procurement of materials and / or to obtain quotations for non-standard components as directed by the Project Manager or as required by the project. Produce detailed Bill of Materials.
* Research suitable solutions and estimate costs and timescales.
* Deliver assigned projects / design activities on-time and to cost (in accordance with Standards and contractual requirements).
* Liaise regularly with the customer, client, contractors, Project Manager and other members of the Design Team. In particular, issues and shortfalls should be communicated in a timely manner and in writing.
* Where applicable, to attend meetings on site, upholding the Company’s Culture and Values.
* Undertake product testing and evaluation, which demonstrates specification adherence.
* Where applicable to record, analyse and interpret test data.
About You:
* Knowledge and use of Autodesk Inventor/Inventor Professional CAD skills.
* At least 3 years’ experience in a Mechanical design environment.
* Knowledge of the Water Industry.
* Knowledge of electrical wiring regulations and Machinery Directive.
* Educated to a minimum of a HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering or science discipline.
* Knowledge of Change Management / Kaizen / Organisational Excellence Concepts.
