A successful manufacturer of high-quality plastic parts and products is entering an exciting new phase of innovation and investment. To support their ambitious growth and future-proof their operations, the company is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to lead key advancements in automation across the business.
In this role, you'll be instrumental in driving the company's progress by planning, implementing, optimising, and documenting automation processes in the factory. Working closely with a cross-functional team, you'll play a critical role in enhancing safety, quality, and cost-efficiency, while also delivering valuable training to ensure smooth and sustainable operations.
Salary: £50,000-£55,000, Schedule: Monday to Friday days, Benefits: Life assurance
Responsibilities:
1. Designing and implementing new automation systems and improvements to existing ones to generate safety, cost and quality improvements.
2. Identification, analysis and methodical resolution of automation system issues to ensure smooth deployment and high utilization.
3. Integrating automation systems with existing factory hardware.
4. Training staff on automation systems operation and procedures.
5. Identify strategic automation and investment plans with cost / benefit analysis.
6. Writing and updating system documentation and providing user training and developing specifications and safety protocols for automation systems.
7. Ensuring all automation activities comply with regulatory standards.
8. Working with other engineers to troubleshoot and improve processes.
9. Feeding maintenance recommendations into the maintenance team and pro-actively raising any equipment issues and faults to reduce downtime and maintain productivity.
Qualifications:
1. Have similar experience in an automation role specifying and implementing automation projects in high-volume injection moulding environments.
2. Have a good understanding of the injection moulding process, with demonstrable experience of improving efficiencies through lean manufacturing, process optimisation, capex and introduction of automation.
3. Hold a higher-level qualification in a relevant discipline (engineering, technology, automation).
4. Possess exceptional problem-solving skills to identify, analyze and rectify any faults or problems within an automation process.
