The Permanent Division of Robert Half is currently recruiting for a Finance Officer on behalf of a national charity company in Northampton.
The Role
As Finance Officer you will efficiently process all aspects of income for company, ensuring accurate information is entered into both companies and accounting systems. You will work closely within the Finance team including the Finance Officer and Senior Finance Officer. You will interact with colleagues across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
The day to day duties of the Finance Officer will consist of:
Accounts Receivable / Income Processing
The post holder will ensure prompt, accurate and effective processing of income. They will:
1. Enter all income data, including direct debits, standing orders, website payments and cheques into companies CRM database and accounting system, ensuring consistency between systems;
2. Process card payments over the phone;
3. Ensure donor information is provided to the fundraising and membership team on a timely basis;
4. Maintain registers of standing orders and direct debits for the membership scheme;
5. Prepare sales invoices, post receipts and allocations;
6. Bi-monthly credit control/liaising with customers;
7. Work with regional teams to ensure processing of gift aid envelopes;
8. Produce ad-hoc reports as required by the finance team, budget holders, project managers and external bodies;
9. Work with other members of the finance team in the preparation of annual audit schedules.
Accounts payable
The post holder will:
10. Register and process purchase invoices in an accurate and timely manner, to ensure payments can be made;
11. Respond accurately and efficiently to queries from suppliers and colleagues regarding payments;
12. Manage the Finance email inbox;
13. Prepare supplier statement reconciliations, as necessary;
14. Process staff expenses, ensuring compliance with policy;
15. Process purchase invoices and Champing™ refunds for companies trading subsidiary.
Financial management and operations
The post holder will:
16. Produce ad-hoc reports as required by the finance team, budget holders, project managers and external bodies;
17. Work with other members of the finance team, in the preparation of annual audit schedules;
18. Bank reconciliations;
19. Monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations;
20. Post monthly prepayment journals;
21. Manage retentions register;
22. Administer companies procurement cards and reconcile the control account;
23. Be a "chart of accounts champion", ensuring correct nominal coding is used;
24. Advise staff on coding queries;
25. Process Intercompany Transactions;
26. Undertake ad-hoc projects and other similar duties, as required within the Finance function;
27. Ensure the Senior Finance Officer is kept informed of any salient issues.

The post holder will:
28. Support change projects both within and outside of the Finance team, to make the organisation more effective;
29. Minute taking for Finance Team meetings;
30. Proactively share best practice and learning across the wider organisation;
31. Ensure procedure guides for all areas of responsibility are written, fit for purpose and kept up to date;
32. Undertake ad-hoc projects and other similar duties as required within the Finance function.
Your Profile
33. System knowledge
34. Strong IT skills including accounting software and MS Office. Strong excel modelling and knowledge. Be confident in using and switching between different software programs
35. Organised and methodical, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
36. Part Qualified, studying towards AAT/CIMA/ACCA
Salary and Benefits
Paying up to £26,500 and Hybrid, working from our Northampton office one to two days per week and team meetings in London.
