About The Role
Morrison Energy Services is recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer to work on our UK Power Networks contract in South East England.
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be part of our substation build team working on UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network. Your role will be to test and commission High Voltage Plant and apparatus onto the live distribution network integrating with existing protection schemes.
MES is proud to be a key partner on the UKPN ED1SON Alliance Contract, delivering substation build and refurbishment works across the East of England including design, project management, on-site cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear installation, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning, and demolition.
As the Commissioning Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Provide technical support for the project teams.
2. Attend Client progress meetings, pre-start meetings, and client audits where required.
3. Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods across the contracts.
4. Identify and resolve design issues raised on site and conform to Distribution Network Operator standards.
5. Provide technical support for projects at a concept stage to ensure robust, cost-effective build solutions.
6. Produce detailed Commissioning Plans.
7. Test and commission High Voltage plant and apparatus on the 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV networks.
8. Testing and commissioning of Alarm and Control installations.
9. Review and, if required, correct scheme provided drawings.
10. Safely put people to work that may be under their charge.
11. Ensure all plant and equipment is tested and commissioned to current legislation.
12. Support and mentor other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
1. A proven track record of Testing and Commissioning on and around the High Voltage distribution network.
2. Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure, and legislation in addition to sound decision-making skills.
3. Strong interpersonal skills.
4. Able to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs.
5. The ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Knowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety, and Environment.
7. Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers, and site project staff.
8. Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
9. Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate they have worked in a similar environment.
10. Full Driving license.
