Senior Staff Nurse – Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery
Location: Birmingham
Full-Time: Monday – Sunday, 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Flexible, including long days, nights, and weekends (internal rotation).
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive (DOE) plus 9% shift allowance
We are seeking a Senior Staff Nurse to join the Cardiothoracic Surgical Inpatients Team at a cutting-edge facility in Birmingham. This modern, purpose-built private hospital is located on a major medical campus and provides world-class care across a range of specialties, including cardiology, cancer, and complex surgery.
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Ward is a 12-bed multi-specialty surgical unit supporting patients across specialties like GI, Gynae, Orthopaedics, Breast, Spinal, and Liver surgery. It features a 6-bed Enhanced Care Unit with in-room cardiac monitoring and a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit.
Your Role:
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will:
Deliver high-quality care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgery.
Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
Act as a role model, fostering excellence in patient care.
What You’ll Bring:
Experience in a surgical inpatient setting.
Proven expertise in post-cardiac and thoracic surgery patient care.
Current First Level nursing registration (NMC).
Basic Life Support certification.
A track record of mentoring or preceptorship with junior staff.
A willingness to pursue post-registration courses.
