Antenna Design Engineer Ref. 935 Department Engineering Salary £49,579 Job description This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week Monday – Friday. Flexible working pattern requests are welcome. Can you design, build and test antennas for modern communication systems? Keen to build your skills and develop your career in engineering? You’ll bring your technical knowledge and ideas to create and maintain antennas to solve a range of challenging engineering problems, to meet the needs of partners at home and overseas. On the job training is provided, and a portion of your time will be dedicated to innovation and research. Joining one of our product development teams, you’ll work on hardware products and solutions to protect national security. You may not know all the details yet, but you soon will. No two days will be the same, one day you could be modifying an existing design to introduce a new requirement, the next you could be collaborating with a multidiscipline team on designing the next set of products and systems. More About You To apply for this role, you will already have: Experience of designing and testing bespoke antennas to meet specifications and standards. Experience of using network and spectrum analysers plus other test equipment and measurement systems used in antenna design. Experience of RF design using software simulation tools, e.g. HFSS, CST etc. To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have: Relevant work experience or relevant Degree, such as RF engineering, RF communications, maths or physics. Experience of antenna construction and good skills with hand tools. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver solutions to engineering problems. You’ll use your skills and experience to create a wide range of designs and systems whilst working with a variety of partners and design engineers. Using your diverse range of skills, you will: Design, develop and document antennas to appropriate standards, in line with HMGCC’s engineering policies, processes and procedures. Design solutions that meet our partners’ needs. Verify designs by creating and implementing verification tests and carrying out peer reviews. Support products and investigate reported defects. Contribute to project planning and meetings. Undertake elements of line management and departmental administration as agreed with team management.
