Behaviour Mentor – About the Role
As a Behaviour Mentor at this Primary School, you will play a crucial role in supporting a young boy in Year 1 who presents significant behavioural challenges. You will work 1:1 with the pupil, providing tailored interventions and strategies to help him regulate his emotions and improve his behaviour. This pupil may exhibit physical behaviours such as biting, punching, or kicking, so resilience, patience, and strong behaviour management skills are essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Building a trusting relationship with the pupil to foster engagement and positive change.
* Developing and implementing strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviours.
* Collaborating with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to ensure a consistent approach.
* Monitoring and recording progress, celebrating small wins and adapting plans as necessary.
This is a challenging but rewarding role where your efforts will have a direct and meaningful impact on the pupil’s well-being and development.
