The Scientific Support Specialist helps researchers achieve cutting edge scientific results by providing timely, high-quality support to customers using our full portfolio including Dharmacon brand gene editing, RNAi, cell culture, gene expression & companion diagnostic products.
Working as part of our highly experienced technical team, the Scientific Support Specialist will use their scientific expertise daily to guide customers through their full experimental journey: Addressing pre-sales questions and inquiries, troubleshooting problems, and managing complaints in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Through in-depth interactions across the company, this role will provide extensive insight into the business world and would be a perfect introduction to the commercial sector for an applicant interested in applying and sharing their scientific knowledge. The successful applicant will concentrate on our customer in China, and as such might require flexibility in their working hours to have some overlap with customers. The position will be ultimately based in our offices either in Lafayette, CO, or Cambridge, UK on a hybrid basis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide scientific support by phone, email and webchat to customers requesting product guidance and/or help troubleshooting experiments with an emphasis to our customers supporting English and Chinese Mandarin conversations.
2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of our dynamic portfolio of products, solutions, and services
3. Effectively communicate (both written and oral) with interdepartmental teams
4. Understand product applications, challenges and strategies for good experimental design
5. Work with customersupport, R&D and product management as part of troubleshooting activities
6. Support local and international field-based teams by answering scientific inquiries
7. Continually strive to improve soft skills to provide an outstanding customer experience
8. Assist in the preparation and review of technical documents and web content for new and existing products
9. As a front-line representative of the company, this position will influence customer allegiance, so professionalism and courtesy are required at all times
Basic Qualifications:
10. MS or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences.
11. Fluent in Chinese Mandarin spoken and written
12. 1-2+ years hands-on practical experience in standard molecular and cellular biology techniques and procedures (including but not limited to qPCR, PCR, cloning, and transfection/transduction)
Preferred Qualifications:
13. Experience with gene editing and/or RNAi
14. Previous technical or customer support experience
15. Experience using a CRM
16. Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
17. Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills required
