About the Opportunity
Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services. The Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) Future State Programme is one of the most complex challenges facing the NDA (Nuclear Decommissioning Authorities). The SNM Future State Programme will deliver capabilities to ensure the right material, is in the right package, in the right store to maintain safe and secure storage of material.
We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer who would like to get involved in design from concept to completion, with an aptitude for problem solving and in developing less experienced mechanical discipline engineers and designers.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following competencies;
1. Experience in the use of Auto desk inventor
2. Planning and co-ordinating engineering and design activities
3. Develop and implement engineering solutions for complex engineering projects, from concept design proposals through to design for manufacture, the full project life cycle
4. Identify design, statutory and regulatory requirements, and contributing to risk assessments
5. Produce technical reports, technical specifications and scoping calculations
6. Reviewing technical deliverables, including reports and drawings
7. Presenting engineering solutions to stakeholders and as part of design reviews
Here's What You'll Need:
8. Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in engineering discipline
9. Attained/ or working towards chartered or incorporated status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE)
10. Experience of highly regulated environments would be advantageous
11. Familiarity with CE Marking, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED, Machinery’s Directive
