Warehouse & Dispatch Team Leader
Location: Hockley, Birmingham, B18 5AY.
Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum (Dependent on experience and qualifications).
Contract: Full time, permanent.
We are a national manufacturing company with an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse & Dispatch Team Leader to join our team!
About the role
The role of a Warehouse & Dispatch Team Leader involves managing the daily operations of the warehouse and the dispatch department. This includes supervising the staff, maintaining efficiency, and controlling costs. The ideal candidate must possess excellent organisational and communication skills to effectively serve both internal departments and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch
1. Liaise with the sales administration office as necessary, regarding orders coming in;
2. Check to ensure all customers are contacted on the relevant days. Correct picking of all orders for each customer and distribution;
3. Ensure effective stock rotation based on the “first in first out principle”;
4. Monitor daily stock and date checks, and transfer of stock between chillers and freezers;
5. Door sales sheets are completed correctly;
6. Assist in ordering boxes, pallets, and pallet wrapping film as required.
Delivery
1. Liaise with customers and third-party distributors as required;
2. Coordinating and maintaining fleets and equipment;
3. Carry out audits as necessary, using the computer stock systems as appropriate;
4. To be familiar with new and existing delivery rounds and backup drivers as required;
5. Distribution of products to the right customer at the right time;
General Warehousing
1. To ensure standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping within the warehouse/dispatch operation are at an appropriate level at all times;
2. Liaise with production/planner regarding dispatch requirements and order of production;
3. Familiar with the Warehouse/dispatch system (Software), and computer literate to ensure the accuracy of inventory and deliveries;
4. Assist to work as part of the management team and be a contributor, where possible assist in the compiling of Management Reports;
5. Control and organise storage and inventory space;
6. Have adequate knowledge of ‘Hygiene Rules’ and contribute to health and safety initiatives such as ongoing risk assessment and investigations;
7. Monitor employees’ hours of work, absenteeism, holidays, and arrange cover for them;
8. Ensure Warehouse staff adhere to rules and keep the area clean and tidy at all times;
9. Carry out other duties as required.
What we need from you:
1. Proven work experience as a Warehouse Supervisor
2. Logistics and supply chain management skills
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
4. Highly motivated and commercially minded with strong attention to detail
5. Proactive approach to managing work priorities and meeting deadlines
6. Knowledge of warehouse software packages and MS Office proficiency
