Hays Education are working with a school in Rotherham who provide specialist education to children and young people with Autism (ASD). The school have a number of jobs available for specialist Teaching Assistants who are immediately available, and willing tomit to long-term, full-time work.
You will be working with students ages 5-19 who have ASD, PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) andplex needs, in a non-directive and non-confrontational way. Working alongside teachers, you will work on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis in a small classroom setting where there are no more than 8/9 students at any time. Not only will you provide educational support, you will also help with portable skills which help each student in preparing for adulthood.
Outside of the classroom you may be required to liaise with outside agencies, parents, the residential care team and other health professionals, as well as attend meetings or reviews.
In order to apply for these jobs, it is essential you have experience of working with children or adults with Autism within the last 5 years. This can be in a school, residential or social care setting. You will need to have an Enhanced DBS with both adult and child checks, or be willing to apply for a new one.
