The primary role of the post-holder is to perform, interpret and report complex detailed diagnostic vascular ultrasound exams to the highest standard.

The post-holder will be encouraged to publish their work and present at national and international scientific meetings.
The aim is to advance vascular science and continue to increase the overallstature/reputation of the vascular laboratory
Main duties of the job
The primary role of this job is to perform, interpret and report a wide range of complex diagnostic vascular ultrasound exams to a high standard. The St George's Vascular Institute is one of the premier tertiary vascular centres in London.
A variety of complex and interesting cases are regularly referred to the unit offering a great opportunity to advance your skills.
You will also participate in training and supervising junior members of staff and students.
You will help in the day to day running of the department, reviewing and vetting scan requests to determine appropriateness and clinical urgency to prioritising workload.
You will participate in research and audit activities within and outside the department.
You will be encouraged to publish work and present at national and international scientific meetings with the aim to advance vascular science and uphold the overall stature/reputation of the vascular laboratory.
Requirements
You should have one of the following qualifications: fully accredited vascular scientist (AVS) with the Society for Vascular Technology GB & Ireland (SVT), STP graduate or an equivalent body if trained abroad. You must also have a relevant post-graduation qualification such as a PGCert, PGDip, MSc or equivalent.

Education
Essential
* Science Degree (BSc level or higher)
* Relevant post graduate qualification (PGCert, PGDip, or MSc (or equivalent))
* AVS (Full Accreditation with Society of Vascular Technology for Great Britain and Ireland) or HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (requires 3 years post-graduate study), foreign qualifications of equivalent education/training or graduate of Scientist Training Program
Desirable
* MSc in Ultrasound related subject
Experience, Knowledge and skills
Essential
* Ability to independently perform, interpret and report Carotid/Vertebral arteries, lower limb arteries and lower limb venous (DVT and incompetence)
* Extensive ultrasound scanning experience
* Knowledge of vascular ultrasound and application
* Fluent spoken and written English
* Knowledge of developments in vascular ultrasound and vascular intervention
* Self motivated and able to work within a team structure
* Flexible working attitude
Desirable
* Ability to independently perform, interpret and report EVAR, TCD and fistula
* Experience in developing trainees to the level of Clinical Scientist
