In this role, you will provide frontline HSE Business Partnership to Field Services and support to the Head of HSE - Field Services; ensuring delivery and execution of safety assurance plans and systematically driving HSE improvements across all metrics within an allocated PU/Workstream.
Key Accountabilities:
HSE Business Partnering
Ensure HSE risks are identified and effectively controlled, supporting field risk assessment and mitigation activities, including asbestos, technical safety, electrical safety, corrective action closure, COSHH, dynamic risk assessments, implementation of new/changed requirements, manual handling, occupational health, training completion and waste management to improve HSE performance.
Influence, at a National Level, governance and ways of working to improve HSE performance.
Take the lead on HSE interface of allocated National Fatal Risk Group and support Director & Senior Management sponsors on delivery of risk reducing initiatives.
Support, encourage and influence key stakeholders at various levels, in a matrix style structure.
Provide focal point subject matter expertise to delivery unit at all levels.
Resolve, with agility, day to day field HSE concerns making recommendations for changes to risk assessments and safe systems of work to address ongoing risk concerns.
Monitors myHSES (incident database) ensuring that events, investigations and actions ensuring they are addressed in a timely manner.
Assist line managers with incident investigations, ensuring true root cause and class leading lesson sharing.
Conducting training and workshops to facilitate ongoing embedding of risk management.
Visibility
Proactively engages, challenges & influences colleagues to deliver HSE compliance and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance
Uses knowledge to effectively oversee 3rd party contractor HSE compliance and performance
Role-models the Centrica values and adopts new ways of working to drive improved decision-making, productivity & effectiveness
Supports internal stakeholders with HSE event investigations and delivering transformational change at local level
Analyses wide range of HSE performance metrics including data from myHSES to inform areas of focus for upcoming contractor performance reviews; oversees that HSE activities, actions etc are completed in a timely manner
Coordinates HSE performance reporting to BGS Head of HSE - Field Services
Networks with HSE BPs from other BUs including through HSE Forum to share best practice and maintain HSE standards
Contract Management
Oversees the review and update of HSE contract terms with 3rd parties, especially those conducting fieldwork on BGS's behalf to ensure these are fit for purpose
Ensures that the scope and quality of HSE content in contractor MBR packs and other reporting meets BGS's requirements
Develops, documents, and implements consistent processes for monitoring and controlling of 3rd party contractors' HSE performance
Ensures that adequate documentation is produced to evidence the monitoring & control of 3rd party contractors including HSE action tracking following MBR meetings
Who are we looking for?
BSc (Hons) Occ H&S / Level 5 NVQ Occ H&S/ NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
Barrier-based root cause analysis training (Sologic or equivalent)
Incident investigation experience in a recognised method i.e. Topset
HSE Auditor qualification preferred (ISO 45001 and/or14001)
Chartered member of IOSH (or actively working towards)
Evidence of current CPD
Relevant experience of HSE management in a field based, residential environment, or similar, and at scale.
Experience of working in a similar industry.
An understanding of the regulatory sector and the management of risk.
Experience in managing performance of 3rd party contractors.
Experience of leading change projects.
Strong self-drive and resilience to overcome challenges and deliver results.
Relevant experience of building a strong and consistent culture of safety throughout an organisation.
