The vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant living in the Blandford Area contracted at 20 hours per week. You must be available AM and PM to meet the school bell times. The contract is for Term Time Only.
What you will be doing:
The role of a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people providing additional assistance in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school, covering Regular Passenger Assistant absence.
About you:
Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times with all holiday leave to be taken in the school holidays.
Dorset Travel is looking for caring, flexible and responsible passenger assistant with an understanding of young people with additional needs.
- Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs
- An understanding of safeguarding children
- Recognition of a hazard and how to report
You must be physically fit, with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.

Term time only contracts:
We base the pro-rata salary on:
1. the number of hours
2. the number of weeks worked
3. paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service
In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
