About the opportunity
We are looking for a Buyer to join our Trading team in ROI, based at our offices in Clonee, County Meath.
Reporting to the Country Trading Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for the buying and supplying of products within the FMCG categories for Dealz & Pepco. The Buyer will also have responsibility for various events. As a Buyer, you will build category strategies and ensure ranges land on time whilst managing stock levels and developing supplier strategies.
This is a diverse role working in a fast-paced environment. Budget retail is a sector like no other. You will be responsible for representing our business both in brand and culture through the products you select.

What you'll be doing...
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for:
* Accountability for performance to the Country Trading Manager, spotting opportunities and threats and resolving issues by working closely with the broader team
* Purchasing and supply of all products from conception to the bottom line
* Ensuring products are in line with current and future trends
* Cultivating and nurturing relationships with suppliers to ensure we can offer customers amazing products at an amazing value
* Negotiating costs and delivery timescales in line with company budget and KPI's
* Visit factories to develop ranges, negotiate the cost of goods, exploring new markets in developing countries/economies
* Liaise with Merchandisers on the sourcing of product that meets promotional and seasonal activity
What you'll need...
* At least 3 years’ experience as a Buyer
* A degree or equivalent would be desirable
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* Good numeracy and Excel skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own workload.

The acquisition is another step in the transformation of Poundland and will provide the infrastructure to power a national roll-out of our ecommerce operation.
We have recently opened seven brand new stores, including our large format stores and revamped 55 stores. We are also expanding our fresh range to another 30 stores over the coming months.
