What does your new role entail?
Airport Security Officers are responsible for implementing aviation security regulations through conducting physical searches of staff and passengers' bodies and hand luggage, access control checks, x-ray screening of bags, and assisting people throughout their airport experience.
Upon successful completion of the Civil Aviation Authority mandatory training and passing all the required assessments, you will:
Undertake physical body and bag searching
Utilise colour X-Ray images in both 2D and 3D to screen belongings
Verify documents and perform security screening and searching
Assist in handling health, safety, or security incidents
Work collaboratively within a team and various airport departments to deliver an outstanding customer experience
Participate in regular training sessions to maintain x-ray screening and physical searching competencies in accordance with the Department for Transport (DfT) regulations
How can you become an Airport Security Officer?
You don't need formal qualifications to join us, but there are some important skills and attributes that are key to being a successful Airport Security Officer:
The work is physically demanding, which includes bending down low, reaching up and remaining vigilant for the duration of the shift, often standing for several hours. This is so that passenger and staff body searches can be conducted in accordance with CAA regulations
Full colour vision and hearing that meets the required standard
Fluent in written and spoken English, with excellent communication skills
Acute attention to detail, conscientious, and driven to maintain high standards
Ability to multi-task in a busy, operational environment
Cares about providing friendly customer service, even in high-pressure conditions
Works effectively within a team, being considerate, supportive, and helpful to colleagues with the openness to give and receive feedback
The following is essential – without these we regret that won't be able to progress your application due to the essential requirements to meet National Security Vetting criteria.
UK residency continuously for the previous three years, with the legal right to work in the UK
Employment history for the previous 5 years, or able to provide evidence for any gaps in employment during that time
Please note that successful candidates will also be required to satisfactorily complete further pre-employment checks which includes a medical, criminal record check, and counter-terrorism check before employment can commence.
Your first 5 weeks will be a full-time training course with our very knowledgeable and supportive Security Trainers. The training will include classroom-based learning and on the job training, with exams that must be passed to become a fully qualified Airport Security Officer.
Training course start dates are scheduled throughout 2025.
