Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in our supported accommodation for 16-18 year olds. This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our children through personalised support and safeguarding.
We are a small supported accommodation service run and owned by industry professionals with a real passion to promote children's rights and entitlements.
Duties
* Provide direct support and development sessions to children.
* Assist with life skills development like shopping and food preparation and ensure health and education needs are met.
* Offer companionship and engage children in meaningful activities to promote mental well-being using the PERMA model tool and a trauma-informed approach.
* Support children with family and transportation needs, including driving them to appointments or social activities and helping them learn to use public transport.
* Maintain accurate records of each child's support and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate personnel.
* Conduct safeguarding measures and assessments including risk assessments for each child, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
* Collaborate with stakeholders including professionals.
Requirements
* Previous experience in childcare.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed support or Dyadic Developmental Psychology is preferred.
* Ability to help hard-to-reach individuals and those with barriers to access the community safely and enjoy a good quality of life.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children.
* A valid driving licence with business insurance.
* Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Flexibility in working hours may be required based on children's needs. For 1:1 sessions, you and the child manage your own diary. Sleep-in shifts are also desired and paid an additional fee.
