Inpatients Staff Nurse –Gynaecology London: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children Full time Permanent contract: 37.5 per week (long days/nights/weekends rotational shifts)
We are recruiting for a Gynae Staff Nurse to join the Inpatients team at The Portland Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC.
As a Staff Nurse in the Gynaecology Inpatient ward you will be working to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care. You will work within a team, supervising and directing junior staff and deputising for Senior Staff Nurse and Sister in their absence.
To be willing to provide care to women undergoing surgical or medical termination of pregnancy, including direct involvement with induction of the procedure.

The Portland Hospital also has a large outpatient department for all areas of its clinical expertise, to facilitate continuous care or simpler procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
2. Assess, plan and deliver care to meet patient and family needs
3. Undertake extended roles such as IV cannulation, phlebotomy
4. Contribute to research-based care and other practice development initiatives
5. Contribute to the setting of clinical standards, policy and procedure
6. Promote good communication channels amongst staff enhancing good team work
7. To maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
8. To deputise for senior staff in their absence, demonstrating leadership and management
9. Supervise and direct junior staff, promoting a learning environment
10. Respect and ensure patients privacy and confidentiality
11. Ensure all patient charges are captured
12. Chaperoning and assisting medical staff
13. Fully document all aspects of patient care and maintain accurate records
14. Provide patients and families with information regarding care and management of their condition
15. Maintain stock levels of supplies/equipment
16. To carry out nursing duties as requested by senior staff
Skills & Experience:
17. Registered Nurse Level 1
18. NMC Registration and PREP requirements
19. Course/experience relevant to specialist area desirable
20. Phlebotomy and training desirable
21. Good verbal and non verbal communication skills
