Infrastructure Engineer - On site in the Bromley office, there will be flexibility for hybrid working once a few months into the role - 46k - 55k plus bonus and benefits
Job Description for Infrastructure Engineer:
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to address critical challenges within our legacy systems, which currently operate on outdated Microsoft platforms. Running legacy applications on these systems introduces higher-than-acceptable vulnerabilities, as revealed in penetration tests and cybersecurity audits. Additionally, limited knowledge of these applications poses operational risks during updates and delays the deployment process.
You will need to have Expertise with Windows Server 2002-2022
In this role, you will work closely with end-users and application experts to understand the specific business requirements of each application. You will then develop a tailored strategy to:
1. Upgrade: Update the operating system while ensuring compatibility with the application.
2. Replace: Identify and implement fully supported alternative applications.
3. Isolate: Securely isolate the legacy applications to mitigate security vulnerabilities and ensure that network updates do not impact them.
Your responsibility will include the implementation, testing, and thorough documentation of solutions for all identified legacy applications.
Desired Skills & Experience Infrastructure Engineer:
* Expertise with Windows Server 2008-2022
* Strong understanding of security vulnerabilities
* Experience with Azure and domain structures
* Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
* Proficiency in Group Policy management
* Familiarity with legacy systems like FoxPro and Access 97
* Willingness to work outside business hours, as needed
If you're an innovative problem-solver with a passion for modernising infrastructure while mitigating security risks, we'd love to hear from you.
