We are looking to recruit an Education Inclusion Officer to join our Education Inclusion Service on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.
The role is to ensure that the authority and its schools adhere to their statutory responsibilities with regard to school attendance and related matters, supporting schools, children, and their families in ensuring that all pupils attend school regularly.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
* Challenge and support individual schools regarding pupil attendance and advise on best practices.
* Support parents to fulfill their legal duty concerning the education of their child(ren).
* Undertake casework with identified pupils.
* Work with other departments and agencies as required.
* Undertake a specialist area of work on behalf of the service (as agreed with the line manager).
We are looking to recruit an individual with:
* The ability to work on their own initiative and prioritize workload.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to analyze data and write reports.
* A willingness to challenge schools regarding the implementation of good practices.
* A willingness to challenge attitudes that may compromise a child’s right to a full and efficient education and to apply legal interventions if necessary.
* The ability to work effectively within a multi-agency context if required.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
In addition to the above, we require an individual with a degree of fluency in the Welsh language.
