The Opportunity EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams. As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the detailed design of a 300km piping network for the HPC Nuclear Island, guiding the project through fabrication, and providing additional support during on-site installation. You’ll collaborate with CAD designers and fellow engineers to produce accurate piping design models and deliverables, ensuring compliance with system requirements and specifications while adapting to configuration changes. As part of the post-handover phase, you’ll integrate design changes and final equipment designs into the models, manage the Open Point and UK Design Change processes, and engage in continuous learning to enhance your skills and address any design non-conformities. What you’ll be doing You’ll deliver piping work packages for UK nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, delivery processes, and quality assurance, while actively participating in and chairing kick-off meetings. You’ll mentor junior team members to enhance delivery quality and team capability, and report on work package progress while managing expectations from team leads and clients. You’ll also engage in continuous improvement efforts, adhere to design change and open point management procedures, oversee the modelling of piping and support designs in 3D, and effectively communicate with various stakeholders throughout the design delivery process. Who you are Being a Mechanical Engineer means holding a degree or suitable diploma in Mechanical Engineering, along with a solid understanding of process plants. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering technical work on time and to a high standard, complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal abilities. Additionally, you must be adaptable to the evolving needs of the project. We’re looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who can consistently meet commitments and deadlines, follow project engineering procedures, and demonstrate strong technical coordination skills.
