Please note that with effect from 1 April, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30, and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30, per annum / £15.97 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
About the role
The postholder will acquire all types of heritable property for the operational requirements of City Council services. Dispose of all types of heritable property declared surplus by the City Council through sale, lease and licence. Manage corporate projects,
property projects and give property advice to Corporate Working Groups, particularly with regard to valuation and property management issues, together with instructing and directing technical and other professional colleagues in the Council and external
contractors in connection with such projects and disposals. Understand the principles of good property Asset Management and the Council’s Property Asset Management Plan. Be able to give strategic and specific property advise.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
• Educated to Degree level in a property related discipline.
• A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (General Practice).
• Be a Registered valuer with the RICS or be capable of becoming a Registered Valuer.
• Current Full UK Driving Licence
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
• Experience in the management of Commercial property.
• Experience of managing rent reviews, lease renewals and new lettings.
• Experience in the disposal and acquisition of heritable land and property.
• Strong Communication skills
• Experience negotiator
• Understanding of the concept of Best Value.
• Be able to motivate and manage a team of different professional and technical staff.
• Demonstrate commercial awareness
