The Eating Disorder Service in Suffolk operates from two bases, with some resources shared across the region. This Consultant post in the East will offer consultation and cover to the teams in West Suffolk as needed.
The service receives referrals from GPs and other agencies. Assessments are carried out by Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs), with Consultant involvement for specific clinical reasons. Cases are coordinated by MHPs with input from the Consultant as required. The Consultant is not expected to carry a caseload but to provide specialist medical support to the team.
The post holder will be appointed as a senior professional to provide advanced professional expertise and clinical leadership. The post holder is expected to conduct themselves in a manner that helps the Trust deliver its strategic and business objectives and to act as an ambassador with external partners and stakeholders. The post holder must not bring the Trust into disrepute.
Additionally, the post holder must comply fully with the Nolan Principles and the Standards of Business Conduct.
As a clinical leader, the post holder is expected to demonstrate leadership qualities as set out in the Medical Leadership Competency Framework (NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges).
