About this opportunity
It is a challenging and exciting time to work for Cumberland Council. We are currently looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to take up a vacant Project Manager role as part of the Council’s Transformation Team. You will be joining a well-established Programme Management Office (PMO) and have an opportunity to help deliver significant change projects. This role offers a fantastic chance to make a difference, putting health and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do, building an inclusive economy, having a fairer society, protecting our environment, and ultimately, delivering great public services. As well as further developing your knowledge and experience, you will work across the full project lifecycle, supporting scoping, initiation, implementation, delivery, and benefits realisation.
Cumberland Programme Management Office is within the Business Transformation and Change Directorate and supports ways of improving, governing, controlling, and assuring investment and change within the Council.
There is a wide variety of work that the team is focused on, with opportunities for you to work alongside services across the authority. This role will initially join the team supporting the Assets, Fleet, and Highways portfolio of projects with an emphasis on service redesign to achieve efficiency goals. Involvement in other themes as programmes evolve will be expected and encouraged over time.
An understanding of local government services is helpful, but we also welcome applications from other sectors. Our transformation programme is ambitious and covers a wide variety of projects from managing demand to workforce planning.
Who we’re looking for
This high-profile role will focus on shaping and delivering complex projects that help drive the Council’s transformation agenda and strategic priorities. This is a great opportunity to directly lead and shape projects alongside managing their delivery.
The right candidate will confidently step into the role and proactively facilitate and manage projects from design to delivery to high-quality standards.
A proactive, customer-focused approach is important, as is experience of delivering change in a large and complex organisation. You will be able to work under pressure and effectively manage priorities and deadlines, while also being an excellent communicator who can engage with a wide variety of audiences and develop partnerships across stakeholders.
We are looking for candidates who are adaptable and can thrive in an ever-changing working environment. If this sounds like you, and you are ready for a new and rewarding career step, then please apply today.
Fundamentally, we are seeking individuals who embody our organisation's core values: ambitious, collaborative, compassionate, empowering, and innovative. We believe in the power of these values to drive positive change and shape a better future for our communities. Your commitment to these principles will be instrumental in delivering services that are vital to the well-being and prosperity of our residents.
If this job sounds like you and you resonate with our values we encourage you to apply. For an informal chat prior to your application, please contact John.Bosson@cumberland.gov.uk
