Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work unsupervised and provide nursing careto the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) population at risk, holding anindividual case load, and through consultation identify, assess and diagnosepatients with complex health needs, minor injuries, minor illnesses andspecific diseases within their level of competence.

Job responsibilities
Duties will include but are not limited to:
5. Providing safe, evidence-based, cost-effective and individualised patient care.
6. Managing the care of patients with chronic illnesses Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Heart Disease (CHD) and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
7. Undertaking technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients complex/specialist healthcare needs ( wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Cytology, Audiometry, Ear Care).
8. Coordinating the development of plans to meet the health needs of patients including diagnostic tests; treatment plans, health promotion and prevention.
9. Supporting the development and delivery of specialist services, such as long-term disease management ( diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hypertension) acting as a regional resource for advice and regional clinics.

This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Band 6 Practice Nurse in RAF Odiham, DPHC (L&S). Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due to maternity leave.This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 28/03/2025. You should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment at MOD comes to an end, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy.
If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are found successful for an advertised Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) you should move into the post under a Temporary Transfer (for up to a maximum of 3 years). At the end of the posting you will return to your previous MoD Business area. 16. Professional and specialist knowledge in primary healthcare acquired through post graduate degree/diploma or actively working towards this and can demonstrate equivalent level of competence and experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis)
