12 Month Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA). The post will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, which provides a wide range of tests for both in-patient and out-patient services.
We have exciting opportunities for HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who have experience of working as independent practitioners with skills in Clinical Biochemistry and who are able to perform a range of analyses in Automation and Specimen Reception Services.
We will also welcome applications from graduates who have completed an IBMS accredited biomedical sciences degree and started their specialist portfolio.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in the delivery of a 24/7 laboratory service, including:
1. Fault finding equipment and analyser function after formal in-house training.
2. Managing own work and day-to-day routine work in specialised services.
3. Answering telephone inquiries from pathology users, patients, and patient carers about test results.
Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent
* State registration with Health Professions Council (HPC)
Experience
* Experience of working in a diverse, high pressure, high throughput service
Skills
* In-depth knowledge of the assays performed within their service
* Ability to problem solve complex clinical scientific problems
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current laboratory software
* Able to effectively work within a complex multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
