About the Role:
As an English Teacher, you will help young people develop their academic and vocational qualifications, with a focus on building independent living skills. You will work with students who may face social and emotional challenges, including anxiety disorders and mental health needs. Alongside delivering engaging English lessons, you will be required to teach a second subject.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the development and delivery of the curriculum, addressing students' educational, physical, and social needs.
2. Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to support students' progress.
3. Plan and deliver lessons, setting personalised learning targets for each student.
4. Monitor and review individual progress and contribute to Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews.
5. Maintain structure and motivation in the classroom, ensuring students remain engaged and challenged.
6. Stay up to date with developments in autism education to ensure effective teaching.
7. Assist in the development of curriculum offers and manage a delegated budget where required.
What We're Looking For:
8. Essential: PGCE, QTS, or QTLS teaching qualification.
9. Ability to teach from Entry Levels 2 & 3, Functional Skills Levels 1 & 2, and GCSEs in English and one other subject.
10. Desirable: Experience working in specialist education or a school environment.
11. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
12. Effective planning, preparation, and reviewing skills to support student progress.
13. IT proficiency to enhance learning and classroom engagement.
14. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging environments, with excellent organisational skills.
