Orkney & Shetland Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order .
We provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for the Orkney and Shetland Council areas in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Rolls, Valuation (Council Tax) Lists and Registers of Electors.
You will assist / be responsible for the survey and valuation of all lands and heritages in Shetland, for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act. You will also assist / be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of proposals / appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, and when required appearing as an expert witness to provide professional opinion at First and Second Tier Tribunals.

This Graduate Apprenticeship scheme supports individuals to study for an Honours Degree at university while in paid full-time employment. Graduate Apprentices spend approximately 80% of their time in work and 20% in university, with work-based learning projects allowing Graduate Apprentices to attain an honours degree in 4 years, the same time as traditional full-time students. The Graduate Apprentice develops a wide range of skills relating to construction practices within the built environment, business management and communication skills.
This opportunity is open to those who have achieved four SQA Highers at BBCC (or equivalent); Modern Apprenticeship, or an HNC/HND in a related discipline.
The post of Valuer or Senior Valuer is open to applicants holding Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) status, while Graduate Valuer is open to those holding an accredited RICS degree.
All applicants should have a full current driving licence and a suitable vehicle for use in this employment.
