Occupational Health Specialist Lead Nurse (CAVUHB & CTMUHB)

Working with the Head/Deputy Head of OH for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAV HB) and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) to manage, organise and develop the provision of an efficient, effective and professional Occupational Health (OH) Service and be involved in all aspects of its service delivery to promote and maintain a high degree of physical, mental and social well-being for all employees.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage, organise and develop the provision of an efficient, effective and professional Occupational Health (OH) Service.
2. Develop and implement collaborative working model across CAV HB and CTMUHB Occupational Health Services.
3. Provide quality healthcare to employees by advising staff and management on protection against physical or environmental health hazards.
4. Line manage a group of Occupational Health nurses and Physiotherapists while holding a small clinical caseload.
5. Lead and influence the development and implementation of organisation and departmental policies and procedures.
6. Provide professional nursing leadership, direction, advice and take professional responsibility for OH clinical activity.

Job responsibilities
Provide professional nursing leadership, direction, advice and take professional responsibility for the Occupational Health clinical activity.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current, live Professional Registration.
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Occupational Health) Degree or equivalent Diploma with experience in this field.
* Master's Degree or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Management training/leadership course.
* Relevant clinical and management experience.
* Knowledge of key professional issues and NMC guidelines.
* Knowledge of relevant guidance, legislation and evidence based practice.
* Possess a relevant H&S qualification or be prepared to obtain it within 6 months.
Experience
* Experience of working in an Occupational health setting.
* NHS Occupational Health experience.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams at a management level.
* Experience of budgetary management and setting.
Aptitude and Abilities
* Excellent communication skills.
* Effective organisational skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Basic Welsh language conversational skills (Level 1) or willingness to work towards this level.
Personal Qualities
* Highly motivated.
* Good team player.
Other
* Must be prepared to travel between bases and to other sites in Wales as required.
* DBS Clearance.
