Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Preston, UK
Position Overview:
The position of Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for preventative and reactive repairs and maintenance of the plant equipment, plant infrastructure, and potential troubleshooting, conforming to business and regulated H&S requirements in order to ensure optimal production conditions.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Schedule, execute and manage the maintenance work necessary to keep all plant equipment in operating condition.
2. Plan and perform preventative maintenance service to machinery and equipment in a timely manner, to ensure optimum machine time availability.
3. Diagnose and analyze problems with the equipment and/or infrastructure.
4. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufacturer’s specifications.
5. Identify potential equipment failures and recommend/take preventive action.
6. Document maintenance repairs performed and ensure all technical records are completed and stored appropriately (e.g., managing technical documentation).
7. Perform all operations in compliance with legal and Company policies and procedures, regarding EHS, storage, housekeeping.
8. Other reasonable duties as assigned by line manager.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Relevant qualifications in maintenance, such as a national diploma, apprentice, or NVQ.
2. 5 years of industrial experience.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
4. Demonstrated understanding of mechanical plans and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues.
5. Able to read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, including P&IDs.
6. The ability to operate with a hands-on approach.
7. Experience with PC skills in a Windows environment is essential.
