Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant - Year 9

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant down in Brighton. This rewarding role involves working one-on-one with an Autistic Key Stage 3 boy who has demonstrated significant improvements over the past year. However, he still faces some challenges surrounding behaviour and focus. He requires the support of a positive role model to assist in his day-to-day education and encourage him to achieve his full potential.
About The School:
This school caters to pupils aged 11-16 with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) where Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) is their primary need. Their values and ethos revolve around a comprehensive whole-child approach, valuing all aspects of learning both in and out of the classroom. As an Attachment Aware school, they prioritise building positive relationships to create a secure base for our pupils. This school has a dedicated and passionate team who truly care about the needs of each child.
The Role:
This position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on a young boy's life during his formative and crucial years. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the student's educational journey, building a lasting friendship, and helping him develop the skills necessary for life beyond school.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one support to the Year 9 boy in class, helping him navigate the curriculum.
2. Be adaptable to situations where traditional classroom settings may not be achievable.
3. Build a strong friendship with the young boy, acting as a positive role model.
4. Support and prepare him for life after school.
Qualifications and Skills:
5. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
6. Calm and relaxed demean or with the ability to adapt to various situations.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with the student and others.
8. Understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH as their primary need.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
