Wehave an opportunity for a part-time phlebotomist to join our Medical Practice.This is a unique opportunity to be part of, and contribute to, the developmentof a new and innovative primary care organisation. We are seeking a trained andexperienced phlebotomist to undertake phlebotomy clinics as part of ourclinical team.
Wewill require you to work across both surgery sites, Alderley Edge MedicalPractice and Prestbury Medical Practice when required to undertake clinics. Assuch being a car driver with access to your own vehicle is essential (mileagewill be paid).
Youwill work independently as part of the wider team, in accordance with specificpractice guidelines and protocols with support from a GP on site duringclinics, should this be required.
Main duties of the job
Performphlebotomy on patients as per the standard operating procedure forobtaining blood from patients
Take effective measures to reduce patientanxiety related to blood taking procedures and ensure patient feels safe andwell-informed throughout
Cross checkall relevant patient information, tests required and any special requirementsfor those tests
Ensurecorrect identity of patients and the labelling of their samples and instruct oncorrective methods for patients to seek assistance if or when discrepanciesoccur
Be competentwith computer system and understand how to handle patient data; ensuringinformation is accurate and secure
Be able tosummon assistance in the event of an adverse reaction or fainting episodeduring phlebotomy session
Completerelevant documentation of the intervention on EMIS
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry,blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
IM injections
Administer flu vaccinations and other vaccines ifappropriately trained
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onwardtransportation
Monitoring stock control
Other administrative and clinical duties that might berequired from time to time
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked andprepared for each session
Ensure fridges are monitored and cleaned routinely inaccordance with extant guidance
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

Essential
1. Vaccine administering qualification
2. Phlebotomy Qualification
3. GCSEs grade A to C in English and Maths

4. Qualified to NVQ level three
