Portsmouth Water is the key driving force behind the Havant Thicket Reservoir Project, the first new major reservoir in the UK in over 30 years.
As Project Delivery Director you will work alongside the existing project leadership team that includes our CEO to deliver this high profile, large scale and complex infrastructure project within scope, budget and to the required standards set by our regulators.
With your proven project management experience, commercial acumen, comprehensive approach to risk management and expert capabilities in delivering major capital programmes ideally within the infrastructure, utilities, or transportation sectors, you will direct a multidisciplinary team and enable collaboration with key partners through each stage of the project delivery plan.
Direct experience of major earthmoving projects, soil geotechnics and embankment construction would be highly desirable to us given the challenges facing this project, along with extensive knowledge of asset management systems within the engineering sector, digital engineering technology and technical assurance.

Key Responsibilities
* Own and take primary responsibility for the successful delivery of the Havant Thicket reservoir project to time and cost through direction of the Delivery Team
* Work effectively and efficiently as a key member of the PW project leadership team comprising CEO, Project Director (Delivery), Project Director (Development and Stakeholder), Commercial Director
* In conjunction with the contractors, deliver exemplary standards of operations in terms of Health, Safety and Well Being and the natural environment
* Steer and finalise the transition process to the new Delivery Team structure securing the optimum PW employees/contractor ratio
* Ensure that all cost, programme, environment, and quality parameters for the project are met or bettered
* Take ownership of the project delivery plans, ensuring delivery within timescales set by Ofwat

Skills and Qualifications
* Experience of managing the delivery of substantial and complex capital programmes within infrastructure, utilities, power, or transportation sectors
* Expert understanding of capital delivery processes and infrastructure planning
* Proven experience of developing and implementing capital delivery programme governance and gateway processes
* Strong commercial skills including experience of acting as client for major projects
* Deep understanding of the NEC form of contract and comfort with operating within novel commercial models
* Guiding a team to meet programme/project management goals and targets with a diverse range of stakeholders. Ideally some background in joint venturing and/or joint main shareholder arrangements.
* Proven Board level experience, comfortable with verbal and written reporting of progress at Board level. Experience of presenting complex and technical information to all levels of an organisation to obtain essential stakeholder buy-in
* Experience of proactively managing and mitigating risk Actively seeks challenge and contribution; comfortable with using risk management tools and reporting in the context of major infrastructure projects
* Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex tasks effectively
* Programme/project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 and/or Association for Project Management)
* Proven experience of financial forecasting, budget formulation, cost control, and reporting
* Extensive knowledge of asset management systems within the engineering sectors and understanding of latest developments in digital engineering technology and technical assurance
* An engineering or other relevant degree and chartered membership of a relevant professional institution such as the APM
* Extensive knowledge of APM standards and principles
