Senior Town Planner Job in Whiteley, Hampshire
available with a reputable housebuilder based in Whiteley, Hampshire. Working on projects across the region as part of a collaborative team. Offering a salary of up to £60,000 plus up to 25 days annual leave + bank holiday and benefits.
Established over two decades ago, this independently owned housebuilder is celebrated for creating high-quality and affordable homes in the Hampshire area. Currently delivering around 150 units annually, they aim to double this output in the coming years. To support this growth, they are expanding their Planning team and are open to candidates for the positions of Town Planner, Senior Town Planner, or Planning Manager, whether from a housebuilder, local authority or consultancy background. The role involves obtaining planning permissions for a range of projects, from unique bespoke developments to large-scale schemes of over 1,000 units as part of long-term local regeneration efforts, providing a diverse array of project opportunities.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Take responsibility for the planning process across all stages, from site inspection through to receipt of planning permissions, reporting to the director of the department
2. Create and manage planning applications, conditions, and appeal documents for local authority submissions
3. Conduct research on previous planning applications for sites, as necessary
4. Accurate record keeping for internal systems and local authority planning policies and plan reviews
5. Represent the business at planning and consultation meetings
6. Keep up to date with local planning policies and strategies across transport, green infrastructure, renewable energy, local economy, jobs, climate change, and more.
7. Obtain and negotiate quotes from consultants and external engineers
8. liaise with the wider planning team on relevant issues.
Required Skills & Experience
9. 2+ years of relevant industry experience, ideally within the local region
10. Experience in addressing the general public as well as council officers and committee members in a public forum
11. Knowledge and experience in the planning processes and associated regulations
12. Planning or Surveying Degree or above or equivalent is desirable
13. MRTPI, MRICS or RIBA is desirable.
