Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated senior nurse/AHP as matron for Trauma & Orthopaedics at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
The Trauma and Orthopaedic unit provide an elective service for patients with conditions which have developed over time, and a trauma service for patients who have been injured in accidents. We have six wards, one major trauma ward, one elective ward, two trauma wards, a trauma Assessment unit an outpatient's department split over 2 sites and a step-downward ward at the PAH. We are leading the way in innovative procedures including minimally invasive surgery, hip resurfacing and computer-navigated surgery. Our role as a teaching hospital and work in research and development help to keep us at the forefront of new developments and treatments.

WHAT YOULL DO
Your leadership will guarantee delivery of high-quality nursing care from admission to discharge. Your role will be to drive consistently excellent clinical quality standards by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to the clinical team and supporting them in assuring the delivery of a contemporary, high quality, progressive, effective and evidence-based nursing service and inspiring the team to lead quality improvement. You will be a key member of the care group management team working to innovate and change care pathways, and develop and deliver on other workforce, financial performance and capital strategies for the benefit of patients and the trust.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with proven clinical expertise within the fields of T&O. You will have a strong philosophy of multidisciplinary working and be able to develop the nursing teams to ensure high quality evidence-based care for our successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to lead motivate and manage teams in an ever-changing environment. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills as well as evidence current experience of working with patients within this specialist field or equivalent.
