About the Company:
Our client is a respected and established groundwork contractor in the West Midlands, specialising in high-quality commercial groundwork solutions. With a reputation built on reliability, technical expertise, and successful project delivery, they work with a range of clients across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth and new project wins, they are looking to expand their team with a skilled and driven Quantity Surveyor.
Role Overview:
As a Quantity Surveyor with our client, you'll play a key role in ensuring the financial success of each project, managing costs from the initial calculations to the final accounts. You will collaborate with project teams to deliver on time and within budget, maintain financial control, and develop relationships with clients and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to monitor costs.
2. Conduct accurate cost analysis, valuations, and risk assessments.
3. Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
4. Manage contracts and subcontracts, handling variations and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
5. Collaborate with the project management team to ensure projects meet financial targets and schedules.
6. Perform regular site visits to support cost control and monitor project progress.
7. Produce monthly valuations and final accounts, ensuring profitability on all assigned projects.
Requirements:
1. At least 2 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally within groundworks or civil engineering.
2. Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (preferred but not essential with strong experience).
3. Comprehensive knowledge of groundwork processes, cost management, and construction contracts.
4. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with attention to detail.
5. Proficiency in industry-standard QS software (e.g., COINS, Causeway, or similar).
6. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites across the West Midlands.
