Job Description
Do you want to join our Geo-data revolution? Fugro’s global reach and unique know-how will put the world at your fingertips. Our love of exploration and technical expertise help us to provide our clients with invaluable insights. We source and make sense of the most relevant Geo-data for their needs, so they can design, build and operate their assets more safely, sustainably and efficiently. But we’re always looking for new talent to take the next step with us. For bright minds who enjoy meaningful work and want to push our pioneering spirit further. For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.
The role
As the Lead Geophysical Survey Engineer, you will provide offshore technical support for all geophysical survey operations and report technical and operational situations to the Party Chief. This position is primarily offshore but may occasionally require onshore support. This role is ideal for candidates with an engineering background seeking a new challenge and a leadership position.
You will be supervising the setup, interfacing, testing, maintenance, calibration, and operation of acquisition sensors, and monitoring data quality to ensure survey specifications are met. Reviewing and amending Integrated Management System (IMS) documents to continually improve working practices and ensuring these documents (work instructions, processes, and procedures) are followed. Preparing various reports, including equipment damage/fault reports. Developing and maintaining expertise with acquisition systems and survey techniques. Implementing and reviewing Planned Maintenance Systems and maintaining the inventory of equipment and consumables. Ensuring the integrity and functionality of acquisition sensors throughout the project and reporting any deficiencies through appropriate channels. Assisting the Party Chief in implementing initiatives and campaigns at the worksite or within the organisation, ensuring proactive engagement from all personnel.
Who we’re looking for:
Experience in electronics/mechanical engineering in an offshore survey role with extensive offshore geophysical survey experience. You should be proficient in setting up and operating commonly used survey sensors such as Side Scan Sonar, Sub Bottom Profilers, Seismic Recording Systems, and AUVs.
A good understanding of computer system hardware and networks is necessary, along with experience in fault finding and reporting. Computer literacy, including networking, is required. You should have experience in implementing preventative maintenance systems to ensure the integrity and functionality of acquisition sensors. A solid understanding of geophysical survey principles of data acquisition and data QC is essential.
You should be disciplined, self-motivated, and a flexible team player. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels are crucial. You must be able to work flexible hours, travel when required, and work offshore. Additionally, you must live within a reasonable distance of a major UK airport.
What we offer:
Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you’ll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.
* Extensive career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally.
* Competitive salary accompanied by an attractive package including contributory pension scheme
* Flexible working hours and the potential to work 2 days a week from home in accordance with your manager and corporate policies.
* Option to lease an electric car.
* Private Medical Insurance.
