We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Production Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team. The postholder will be responsible for the effective management of all production activities in pursuit of delivering excellence for our customers. They will be accountable for the performance of the production team as measured by KPIs and providing management cover for other areas when required (i.e., packing).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Effectively managing teams to ensure safe working, food safety, integrity, legality, and quality are always maintained.
2. Taking ownership for planning and organisation of the team to achieve efficient completion of the production plan whilst optimising outputs and minimising waste.
3. Effectively communicating with all departments to ensure all orders/products are made and packed to the required safety, quality, quantity, and cost to meet customer deliveries on time.
4. Ensuring sufficient/required level of multi-skilled staff are available and planned to deliver the plan.
5. Taking ownership of team development to ensure that staff have sufficient training to run lines required.
6. Effectively monitoring productivity rates and initiating projects to improve efficiency and quality, promoting continuous improvement.
7. Leading by example and ensuring staff follow all company procedures.
8. Responsibility for day-to-day line management of factory staff (assistant production manager, supervisors, and factory operatives).
9. Ensuring supervisors have liaised with relevant departments to ensure all equipment and materials are available in sufficient quantities/correct time to ensure all processes start on time (hot start) and operate efficiently.
10. Ensuring the correct completion of any daily, weekly, and monthly reports/meetings and paperwork/data collation required.
11. Leading daily team reviews to focus team on improving performance and attend management meetings as required.
12. Managing achievement of departmental KPIs.
13. Working closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective factory operations.
14. Continuously reviewing practices and procedures to ensure efficient and effective practices.
The successful candidate will have proven production management experience, ideally within a chocolate or confectionery setting. They will have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and be methodical and logical with attention to detail. They should demonstrate competence in leading a team with enthusiasm and determination to succeed and have an attitude for continuous improvement.
