Overview:
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving our design initiatives, responsible for:
* Leading Design Projects: Manage design projects from concept to completion, working independently to develop bespoke solutions that meet customer needs.
* Autonomous Problem-Solving: Proactively identify challenges and implement effective solutions, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality designs.
* Mentoring Team Members: Provide guidance and mentorship to design team members, fostering collaboration and continuous learning.
* Streamlining Design Processes: Evaluate current design processes and identify areas for improvement. Implement streamlined workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce project lead times.
* Developing Work Instructions: Create and refine comprehensive work instructions and operating procedures to support consistent and effective production processes.
* Encouraging Continuous Improvement: Foster an environment of innovation by encouraging team members to suggest enhancements in design, processes, and manufacturing techniques.
* Ensuring Compliance with Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) standards, maintaining excellence in quality and safety.
* Managing Documentation: Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), Product Data Management (PDM) systems, and other essential documentation to support streamlined operations.
Education:
* 3rd level qualification in an engineering-related discipline.
Essential Criteria:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Design Engineering role, with a proven track record of working autonomously.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across teams and with clients.
* Strong organisational and project management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, focused on implementing effective solutions independently.
Desirable Criteria but Not Essential:
* Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar design software.
* Knowledge of VCA standards and regulations.
* Knowledge of cranes, chassis and wiring.
