This is a Full Time, Permanent post based in York.
What you will be doing
The Technical Conservation Team in the National Specialist Services Department specialises in the care, repair and conservation of buildings, structures and landscapes. We set standards and provide specialist technical services and strategic leadership on all aspects of the care, repair, maintenance and adaptation of the historic built environment. We do this by developing and promoting evidence-based technical policy, standards and best practice and by providing specialist guidance within Historic England, to the English Heritage Trust through a shared service agreement and to the wider historic environment.
As a member of the Geospatial Survey Team in Technical Conservation you will undertake geospatial survey work and other tasks relating to the survey, recording, analysis and presentation of the historic environment for Historic England. Through a shared service agreement, you will provide support, advice and geospatial services on properties in the National Collection for the English Heritage Trust. You will contribute to specialist training and production and dissemination of technical advice and guidance for a wide range of audiences using a variety of media.
Please note, this role:
* requires regular travel to sites, many of which are in remote locations not serviced by public transport.
* due to its nature and required attendance at sites, you will regularly be required to stay overnight, often for more than one day.
* will also involve work that is at times in exposed and/or difficult terrain. The ability to climb scaffolding and negotiate confined spaces is essential.
Who we are looking for
An academic and/or professional qualification in geospatial survey or relevant discipline.
Proven wide-ranging post-qualification experience in geospatial surveying and data processing.
Extensive and detailed knowledge of geospatial survey techniques (including photogrammetry, laser scanning, drones and other remote data collection technologies), digital imaging and CAD.
Knowledge of geospatial survey techniques as applied within the historic environment.
