Job Description
The Topsides Projects Manager is a critical role within the operations team, reporting directly to the Operations Director. This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of engineering projects, from tendering and project initiation to successful project delivery, closeout, and alignment with the company’s business plan. The Topsides Projects Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring project success and contributing to the realization of the organisation’s strategic objectives set by the Operations Director.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Operations Director and other stakeholders to identify potential projects and opportunities.
2. Lead the preparation of project proposals and tenders, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with client requirements.
3. Engage in negotiations with clients to secure project contracts.
Project Initiation
1. Work closely with the technical and project teams to initiate projects, defining project scopes, objectives, budgets, and timelines.
2. Develop comprehensive project initiation documentation and secure necessary approvals.
Project Delivery
1. Provide hands-on project delivery management and oversight throughout project execution.
2. Ensure projects are executed in accordance with established project management standards, quality control processes, and safety protocols.
3. Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, and take corrective actions as needed to achieve project goals.
Project Closeout
1. Lead the project closeout process, ensuring all project deliverables are met and clients are satisfied.
2. Conduct post-project evaluations and compile lessons learned to enhance future project execution.
3. Ensure all project documentation is complete and compliant with industry regulations and standards.
Business Plan Alignment
1. Collaborate with the Operations Director to ensure that project portfolio aligns with the company’s business plan and strategic objectives.
2. Implement strategies and initiatives to ensure successful project delivery in line with the business plan.
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
1. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, such as department heads and executives, to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
2. Foster relationships with external partners, clients, and industry.
External Engagement
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with external clients to understand their needs and align the delivery of the business services accordingly.
2. Act as a representative of the company, upholding its values and standards in all client and third-party interactions.
3. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure client feedback is integrated into service improvements and developments.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
1. Ensure compliance with and promote HSE within the business.
2. Support and contribute to the company HSE risk assessments and implement measures.
3. Promote a culture of safety, emphasising proactive HSE practices.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
1. Support the business to achieve ESG metrics outlined in the company business plan and weighted scorecard.
2. Contribute to the development and implementation of ESG initiatives.
3. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure ESG considerations are integrated into business processes and decisions.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience working within the oil and gas and new energy sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for leading various studies, technical advisory and operational projects. Our projects are often Process engineering led with multidiscipline support. This position may suit an engineer with a Process / Chemical engineering background, however, candidates with other relevant experience will be considered.
