Description and requirements
We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Building Services facilities management team on-site at Royal Derby Hospital.
You will manage the rechargeable Small Works and Developments Service at the hospital, ensuring the timely and accurate response to requests from the Client. You will also manage the implementation of all work associated with Life Cycle Replacement and Service Variations.
You’ll:
1. Review each request for Small Works and Developments, assess the scope of work and prepare a cost
2. Track all small works and assist commercial team in the recharge process
3. To assist the onsite team of project managers with the larger projects including preparing purchase orders and pricing on going service/maintenance costs relating to the works
4. Liaise with members of the Estates Team where necessary in order to ensure that all aspects of the work are considered ie mechanical, electrical or building
5. Ensure that quotations are submitted to the client in a timely manner and that, following approval, the work is completed expeditiously
6. Ensure that drawings, manuals and maintenance systems are updated where necessary
7. Represent the Estates Department (and Facilities Directorate) at meetings with other disciplines and when required with external bodies
8. Assist in the management of Estates direct labour group, external contractors and professionals as required
9. Assist in the promotion of good health and safety and quality practices by direct labour and contractors
10. Establish and maintain contacts within the hospital, with contractors, suppliers and statutory bodies as required to provide high standards of estate care
11. Manage maintenance subcontractors, monitor PPM completion and provide technical support to the building section of the Maintenance Department as necessary
Working hours: 37.5 hours Monday – Friday, typically 0800 – 1600 hrs.
We will require you to be able to work overtime as and when required, this includes some weekends and will be paid in line with our overtime rates.
We’re looking for:
12. Dealing tactfully with disgruntled staff/patients/visitors
13. Electrical, mechanical, or building services Qualification Level 3 or above
14. Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
15. Basic computer literacy skills
16. Previous staff management experience is advantageous but not essential
17. Some previous experience of Health and Safety requirements is desirable
18. Some knowledge of Building and Fire Regulations, HTMs and other applicable guidance is desirable
