Join our Team as a Group Financial Accountant
Are you a qualified accountant looking to make a significant impact? Pets at Home, the UK's leading pet care business, is seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join our team on a fixed term contract as maternity cover for 18 months.
About the Role
Join our Group Finance team and play a key role in our fast-paced business. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, you’ll prepare the PLC consolidated financial statements and collaborate closely with both our Retail and Vet businesses.
This hybrid role is based at our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire, and you’ll be required to work in the office two days per week.
Key Responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the group consolidation process and preparing Group consolidated financial statements, ensuring IFRS compliance
2. Conducting cashflow modelling and drafting board papers for the audit committee on key accounting areas
3. Serving as the main contact for external auditors, ensuring timely information flow
4. Preparing consolidated monthly board packs, including balance sheet and cashflow analysis
5. Drafting group accounting policies related to new and amended standards
6. Engaging in ad hoc project work to support the business
About You
7. Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with a minimum of two years PQE
8. Strong understanding of IFRS standards; experience with auditing or preparing statutory accounts is desirable
9. Practical experience or strong understanding of group consolidations
10. Analytical with high attention to detail and strong Excel skills
11. Clear communicator, able to present complex data understandably
12. Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
