Key responsibilities of the Senior System Engineer:
1. Produces outline system designs and specifications, and overall architectures, typologies, configuration data-bases and design documentation of networks and networking technology within the CCCRS hosted services. Specifies user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. Assesses associated risks, and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. Translates logical designs into physical designs.
2. Undertakes routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or soft-ware. Takes action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client. Conducts tests of hardware and/or soft-ware using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools. Corrects malfunctions, calling on other experienced colleagues and external resources if required. Documents details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed.
3. Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
4. Specifies user/system interfaces, and translates logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance requirements and existing systems. Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
Basic Requirements
Key qualifications, skills and attributes of the Senior System Engineer:
5. Fundamental Knowledge of System Level Design
6. Fundamental Knowledge of VMware and NSX
7. Fundamental Knowledge of Microsoft Server Family including core servers, High availability always on clustering, IIS (web hosting), Application Request Routing, files shares.
8. Fundamental Knowledge of network principles, WAN technologies, routing and Global Load balancing.
9. Fundamental Knowledge of Microsoft SQL
10. Experience with SIP technologies including WebRTC.
11. Experience with/architecting or supporting Azure
12. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
13. Strong business/customer facing experience
14. Experience/Desirable with Web Map Services
15. Experience/ Desirable with REST API interfaces
16. Must be able to attain SC AND NPPV3 Clearance.
